RICTA concluded the Rwanda Network Operations (RWNOG) 2022 training second edition with Seventy (70) trained IT Professionals, System Analysts, Server Administrators, as well as large networks and data center operators from a broad range of ICT Industry leaders including Government institutions, Academia, public & private networks, etc…
This was a 5-day national technical workshop on both Network Monitoring and Management (NMM) and Peering & IXP Operations that commenced on 24th and ended on 28th October 2022 at the University of Kigali – CST, Kigali Campus.
The Network Monitoring and Management (NMM) course was meant for engineers who need to manage their network operations. Proper network instrumentation is a fundamental requirement for realizing infrastructure security at both the network and desktop level; whereas the Peering & Internet Exchange operations was suitable for engineers who are planning to interconnect with other networks and/or participate in an Internet Exchange Point, existing members and the ones operating an Internet Exchange point who wish to improve their utilization and participation in their IXP
The training was concluded with the awarding of certificates to the participants. During this closing ceremony, in her remark, our CEO Grace Ingabire commended engineers for their commitment and effort throughout the intense course of training and urged them to share the skills learned with their colleagues in their respective organizations.
Tushabe Hubert, an IT from the Ministry of Infrastructure, said ‘’We have learned and were equipped with good skills that will enable us to solve our daily challenges; we have profoundly captured the contents and demand more of this’’
Umugwaneza Angel Marie Confiance who works for a 4G Internet Service Provider asserted that they gained the knowledge that will help them to raise their service standard. She testified ‘’We have gained other skills on how to utilize Internet facilities for better results and performance […] Some were indeed new to me, I believe that it is going to help us to change and improve on how we have been operating. ‘’
RICTA has trained 570 IT engineers so far and aims to train 1000 engineers within 3 years.
